The Erasmus scholarship is meant as a partial coverage of the living expenses. While choosing the destination please consider the cost of living of the host country.
Application
The Erasmus+ call for studies, available on the page Open selection calls webpage, is published annually between November and December (deadline in January/February)
The application must be submitted online through the dedicated application, attaching a document stating the personal and academic reasons for the choice of destinations and the study project for each destination (Annex 2 of the call).
Admission requirements
The following are eligible to apply for the Erasmus+ study programme:
- students enrolled in bachelor's and master's degrees of the Depatment and Phd students
- students enrolled in single classes (corsi singoli) with the purpose to enroll in a two-year Master’s degree course at the University of Trento
Destination selection
Candidates may select a maximum of 4 destinations in the list of the Department of Sociology and Social Research (Data Science students can can choose from all the destinations offered by all the Departments involved in their study course. Maximum 4).
When choosing a destination it is necessary to check:
- if there are places available for the level of your degree (three-year degree, master's degree, PhD)
- if the subject area is compatible with your course of study
Subject area (ISCED) | Bachelor's degrees | Master's degrees |
---|---|---|
0923 social work and counselling | Social work | Movass |

Language knowledge
Applicants must have an adequate knowledge of the foreign language in which the courses are taught at the destination university.
In particular, the following minimum requirements are required for admission to the selection:
- B1 for ENGLISH, FRENCH, SPANISH and GERMAN LANGUAGE AREAS
The language requirement is a requirement for admission to the selection, and must therefore be obtained by the deadline of the call for applications.
Some partner universities may also require higher levels to be obtained by the application deadline at the partner university or by the time of departure.
How to attest your language knowledge
Knowledge of the language can be proven in the following ways
- having passed a language test at UniTrento or another university equal to the level required
- having passed a language test in one of the extraordinary sessions organised in the past for CLA mobility calls
- have one of the certifications valid for participation in international mobility
- only for Engglish language: be enrolled in a degree course taught in English (SRS students: B1, Data Science students: B2, Glocal students: B2)
- be a native speaker
- hold a final secondary school degree or a first or second level university degree obtained in a country where the official language is that of the destination or, alternatively, have completed a full course of study in the language required for the application
Language tests at the University Language Centre
The standard way of accessing the language tests at the CLA is by filling in the study plan during the established periods.
If it is not possible to enrol via the standard procedure for language tests in order to apply for a mobility programme (e.g.: the second language I have chosen to obtain workshop credits is German, but I need to take a B1 level French exam to go on Erasmus in France), you can fill in an online application to request inclusion in the online record book. Information and deadlines can be found on the page Language requirements for participation in international mobility programmes.
Dual Language Area
In the case of destinations with a dual language area (e.g. English-German), it is not necessary to prove knowledge of both languages: you can choose which language area to apply in and fulfil the language requirement for the language of the courses you wish to take at the partner university.
However, we recommend that you always check the teaching offer of the host university, especially if the language of application (e.g. English) does not coincide with the main language of instruction (e.g. German). However, it remains possible to apply with one language (e.g. English), but take courses in both languages (e.g. English-German) if you meet the language requirement.
Study project
In order to apply for admission to the programme, you must add to your application a study project, completed in accordance with the model attached to the call for applications.
The project must be completed by entering in the first part the motivations (personal and educational) that lead you to apply for the Erasmus+ programme and for that particular destination(s). In the table(s) you must indicate the activities you would like to do abroad and what you expect to be recognised in your Unitrento career.
Selection criteria
For each destination selected, the student will receive a score composed by:
- Language level (if higher than B1) (20/100)
- GPA of graded exams registered by 31/10 (30/100)
- Ratio between acquired credits and credits that could have been acquired before 31/10 (10/100)
- Study project/ thesis research (40/100)
The weight of each criterium will be confirmed or updated by the Commission before proceeding with the assessment of applications.
For first year students it's not possible to take into consideration the GPA or Ratio between acquired credits and credits that could have been acquired. Therefore we use these two solutions:
- For bachelor level students, the language level score multiplied by 2 is taken into consideration instead of these 2 criteria.
- For master level students, the weighted average or the degree grade of the bachelor's degree is taken into consideration and the score is calculated on the basis of the maximum 90 points achievable.
