The Departments of Excellence represent one of the most important initiatives promoted by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) to enhance and support the scientific quality and international competitiveness of Italian universities.

This recognition is awarded to departments that demonstrate high standards of research, teaching, and innovation through a rigorous selection process based on criteria such as scientific quality of output, international impact, multidisciplinary approach, and ability to attract financial resources.

Departments of Excellence receive dedicated funding to enhance their activities, encourage the recruitment of young researchers and high-profile professors, improve infrastructure and laboratories, and develop innovative research projects with a strong scientific and social impact.

Our Department is proud to have been recognized as a Department of Excellence in both editions of the program (2018-2022 and 2023-2027), confirming its ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and international visibility and contributing significantly to scientific and social development, both nationally and globally.

  • Laboratorio di Social Pattern Recognition (SPaRe Lab)
  • Digital Traces and Virtual Reality Lab (DTRACES)
  • Life course Lab
