MODDS – Mapping Organizational and Digital Dynamics in Societies

MODDS promotes research, training, and interdisciplinary dialogue in the fields of Organization Studies (OS) and Science and Technology Studies (STS).

MODDS focuses on the interplay between organizational dynamics and digitalization processes, with a particular interest in the emerging forms of innovation that arise from this interaction. The unit investigates how digital technologies reshape practices of coordination, governance, and collaboration within and across organizations, contributing to broader transformations in social action.

MODDS supports the integration of teaching and research, organizes seminars, workshops, and educational initiatives, and fosters collaboration among scholars engaged in studying organizational and technological change in contemporary societies.

More specifically, MOODS:

• promotes cultural and scientific exchange on digitalization and organizational innovation;
• supports interdisciplinary and collaborative research;
• strengthens academic networks at national and international levels;
• contributes to the dissemination of knowledge and to public debate on ongoing technological and organizational transformations.

Through its activities, MODDS serves as an open and dynamic space for the critical understanding of digital transformations, offering a valuable contribution to sociological and interdisciplinary research on innovation in contemporary societies.

The research unit is based at the Department of Sociology and Social Research of the University of Trento. Founded in 2023.
